چکیده

The photodissociation dynamics of state selected OD radicals has been examined at 243 and 226 nm using velocity map imaging to probe the angle–speed distributions of the D(S) and O(P2) products. Both experiment and complementary first principle calculations demonstrate that photodissociation occurs by promotion of OD from high vibrational levels of the ground X P state to the repulsive 1 S state. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1623175#

Photodissociation dynamics of thiophenol-d1: the nature of excited electronic states along the S-D bond dissociation coordinate.

The S-D bond dissociation dynamics of thiophenol-d1 (C6H5SD) pumped at 266, 243, and 224 nm are examined using the velocity map ion imaging technique. At both 266 and 243 nm, distinct peaks associated with X and A states of the phenylthiyl radical (C6H5S*) are observed in the D+ image at high and low kinetic energy regions, respectively. The partitioning of the available energy into the vibrati...

Experimental and theoretical study of the photodissociation reaction of thiophenol at 243 nm: intramolecular orbital alignment of the phenylthiyl radical.

The photoinduced hydrogen (or deuterium) detachment reaction of thiophenol (C(6)H(5)SH) or thiophenol-d(1) (C(6)H(5)SD) pumped at 243 nm has been investigated using the H (D) ion velocity map imaging technique. Photodissociation products, corresponding to the two distinct and anisotropic rings observed in the H (or D) ion images, are identified as the two lowest electronic states of phenylthiyl...

Photodissociation of singlet oxygen, O2 a Dg, by ultraviolet radiation in the region from 200 to 240 nm has been investigated using velocity map imaging of the atomic oxygen photofragments. Singlet oxygen molecules are generated in a pulsed discharge and studied by one-laser photodissociation and detection around 226 nm as well as two color photodissociation at various wavelengths in the range ...

Speed-Dependent Anisotropy Parameters in the UV Photodissociation of Ozone

Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization coupled with time-of-flight product imaging has been used to study the O2(Σg) + O(Pj) product channel in the UV photodissociation of ozone at photolysis wavelengths of 226, 230, 240, and 266 nm. For dissociation at 226 and 230 nm the O(P2) fragment is produced with a strongly bimodal velocity distribution, in keeping with the previous findings of Miller...

Detection of OH Radical in the Photodissociation of p-Aminobenzoic Acid at 266 nm†

Photodissociation of p-aminobenzoic acid at 266 nm was investigated by probing the nascent OH photoproduct employing the laser-induced fluorescence technique. It was found that the nascent OH radical was vibrationally cold and its rotational state distribution conformed to be a Boltzmann behavior, characterized by a rotational temperature of 1040±110 K. The rotational energy of OH was determine...
